Project Requirements
When ACCO took on the challenge of redesigning the original plans for a BSL2 Lab located at 670 Fifth Street in San Francisco, construction was already well underway. This was going to be a project in a very small space and on a very tight schedule.

What ACCO Delivered
Conventional methods would not have worked in this highly congested, small space, so ACCO had to harness all of its resources in order to create a unique, cutting-edge system. After listening closely to what the client wanted, ACCO based the design on a variable flow refrigerant system, which has proven very successful overseas. The solution saved the client money because rooftop piping and structural steel was minimized. In addition, this solution also helped to streamline the schedule because ACCO was able to work directly with the manufacturer.

The overall process was also fast-tracked to meet the tight schedule by pre-fabricating Sheet Metal and Piping in the ACCO shop.

The tremendous success of this project is truly a testament to the team who worked on it together. It was a collaboration of the various trades all working together to provide the owner a system on time and on budget.
