SBC Internet Data Center in Irvine, is a $100 million
world class hosting service facility providing customers
with a client-ready environment in which clients can
install their computer server equipment. This facility
consists of the very best in security, power, and air
conditioning with complete (N+1) redundancy for all systems
to ensure an optimal computer server environment. The
complexity of the HVAC systems and rigorous completion
schedule was met by ACCO's vast resources and
expertise.
The 149,121 square foot facility is comprised of a 102,500
square foot raised data floor (designed for a potential
load of up to 100 watts per square feet), network
operations center, redundant electrical distribution rooms,
administration spaces, executive conference rooms, and
customer utilization areas. Cooling for the highly
sensitive electronic equipment and support facilities is
made available from a 3,040 ton chilled water central
plant.
Working under a three month completion schedule form start
to turn key, ACCO's engineering and construction
team worked two shifts, seven days a week, and was able to
deliver a complete working HVAC system on time, and most
importantly, under budget. The ACCO pipe
fabrication and sheet metal shops were able to deliver
material, dependably, from accurate onsite AutoCAD
fabrication drawings and kept the large ACCO crews
installing.
acco's dedication and commitment to providing the
safest work environment possible resulted in zero "lost
time" injuries on this 36,000-man hour project.
