originally built in the 1960’s. In 1999, a complete
remodel of the building was undertaken. ACCO was chosen
to provide design/assist services for the HVAC portion of
the remodel work.
In addition to providing “state of the art” HVAC and
controls systems, ACCO was asked to bring the systems
up to current codes, keep the project in line with the
owner’s budget, and maintain a fast-track design and
construction schedule.
The work, which included a new central plant, air handling
units, low Nox boilers and a full DDC control system, also
included full tenant build-out. The work was accomplished
within the confines of a cramped city street, which
required extraordinary efforts for the delivery, staging,
and rigging of the mechanical systems. A sophisticated
smoke evacuation system was installed to bring the
mechanical system to current Los Angeles City requirements.
This building was chosen as the new home for the Jewish
Federation of Los Angeles.
