The first phase of the DreamWorks Animation Studios
facility, located in Glendale, CA, includes a five-building campus
totalling 320,000 sq. ft., a multi-story parking garage, and a central chilled
water plant.
The project was designed by Steven Ehrlich Architects (design
architect) and Gensler Associates (executive architect).
The HVAC was designed on a design/assist basis between acco and Ove Arup & Partners.
The buildings in the first phase consist of the Nile, Directors, Creative
Services, TV Animation Building, and Feature Animation.
The central plant has been designed for a total future cooling capacity of 2,000
tons, with 1,200 tons installed in the first phase.
All of the buildings use variable air volume systems with multiple air handling
units per building, and a complete DDC building management and temperature
control system.
