The central plant consists of two 1,100 ton Trane chillers on the second floor under
roof mounted open cooling towers. Chilled and Hot Water is pumped into a 50,000 gallon
underground storage tank which doubles as the sprinkler system backup supply.
Office spaces are conditioned from builtup fan rooms on the roof using Joy vaneaxial
fans with VFDs. Heating is provided at the perimeter through hot water fan powered
VAV boxes. Lab spaces (electronics and laser labs) are conditioned with custom
Pace air handling units. ACCO fabricated special exterior wall penetration hatches so
lasers could be fired between labs in different buildings.
