Project Requirements

This renovation was to widen concourses and expand the number of concessions and restrooms bringing more modern amenities to fans as well as environmental improvements. The new energy efficient cooling replaces localized, small, air conditioning systems with a more efficient centralized chilled water system.

What ACCO Delivered

ACCO was contracted directly by McCourt Company (Owner of the Dodgers) to perform the stadium renovations. ACCO worked closely with Architect HKS-Sports and Entertainment Group from Dallas and Mechanical Engineer RG Vanderweil from Boston in a Design/Assist capacity. The Field Level Concession project presented many constructability and high volume sheet metal challenges. This project consisted of the installation of eight Carroll air purification units for the concessions grease exhaust systems, two Trane air handlers, thirty-seven Twin Cities fans and twenty-two B&G chilled water pumps.

ACCO installed the main grease exhaust, general exhaust and supply air infrastructure for the stadiums future HVAC requirements. The field crews installed 165,000 lbs. of sheet metal and 105,000 lbs. black metal grease exhaust over a three-month duration. The grease exhaust system required 2-hour fire warp from the Level One field  Level Concession hoods to the Level Six grease exhaust discharge plenums. ACCO piping installed chilled water piping to the stadium frozen drink and soft serve machines for process cooling. The crews utilized innovative rigging and material handling techniques inside the stadium void.

The construction logistics and layout for the many levels throughout the stadium created non-typical installation challenges. ACCO also self-performed the start-up of the HVAC systems, air/water balance and the water treatment services. Sunbelt Controls performed the DDC controls and stadium lighting BAS integration.
