- Plan & Spec Plumbing & Process Piping
PROJECT SUMMARY
ACCO installed process piping and plumbing systems to serve a new GMP manufacturing space, R&D labs, lab support and office space. This required each system to be split downstream of the generation and isolated from one another to avoid contamination. The process piping systems installed include validated RODI, RO lab water, CDA, N2, VAC, He, industrial waters, domestic waters, natural gas and waste. A new dual compressor CDA generation systems was installed along with a duplex vacuum pump system in the adjacent service yard. All process systems serving the manufacturing space are fully validated. Five inch welded natural gas was installed from the meter up to the roof to serve new HVAC equipment.
The project schedule was critical to maintain because Alexza was moving out of their existing facility and into this new space so downtime in their production needed to be minimized as much as possible. A Takt schedule was utilized to achieve milestone dates and keep the project on track. A portion of lab equipment was being relocated from the existing facility to the new location which created even more urgency to complete all the distribution piping and be ready to connect to the relocated equipment once it arrived. Since this project was fully detailed ACCO was able to prefabricate a large amount of piping in our shop to have it ready early and reduce field installation hours, allowing us to stay on schedule and ahead of Alexza’s move date.
