ACCO Engineered Systems announced today that it has acquired the commercial plumbing and piping business from SJS Mechanical, a premier regional design-build plumbing and piping contractor serving the greater Seattle area. SJS Mechanical’s Multi-Family & Assisted Living plumbing business is still in operation and lead by Steven Johnson. Adding the proven capability of the SJS commercial team, ACCO strengthens its position as the largest mechanical contractor in the Western United States and a more competitive force in the Seattle area.

ACCO is known for its broad capabilities in the design, construction, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, process piping, electrical, and building automation controls systems. Pacific Northwest customers will now be provided with unique comprehensive mechanical solutions.

SJS was established in 2005 and has been a key partner since 2014 of Bellevue Mechanical, a division of ACCO Engineered Systems. SJS has dedicated itself to providing unparalleled quality Commercial and Industrial plumbing and mechanical piping services in the construction industry.

Given our history and success together, this partnership is a powerful response to our changing industry. Our two companies have experienced expanded opportunities together for the past few years, and implementing this new strategy will allow for immediate growth in capabilities and further developing value to our broad customer base, said Matt Johnson, ACCO Project Executive, former owner of SJS Commercial.

Since 1934, owners and builders have selected ACCO Engineered Systems to design, install, and maintain hundreds of thousands of mechanical projects. ACCO is an employee-owned company dedicated to the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance and service of commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, process piping, electrical and building automation systems.

The Seattle-Tacoma construction market represents roughly $3.5 billion year over year for the foreseeable future, HVAC and Plumbing are a large percentage of that. The commercial plumbing experience SJS brings is the final piece to our mechanical offerings in the Pacific Northwest, which allows for us to continue our growth in the area and provide a more comprehensive suite of services to our valued customers, said John Hansen President, Northern Region, ACCO Engineered Systems.
