BioMarin is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in gene therapy for rare diseases. Due to their continuous growth, the utility demand within their manufacturing suites has grown as well. This prompted the need for a new utility yard to allow separated utility systems to serve different areas of the manufacturing plant.
PROJECT FEATURES
- Provided the 3D model, construction and weld documentation for all the GMP piping for the utility yard and manufacturing plant
- Procured and installed a new WFI still, HWFI storage tank and WFI heat exchangers
PROJECT SUMMARY
ACCO constructed a new process utility yard and distribution piping to allow for utility separation between different areas of the manufacturing plant. This addition included redundancy so that the plant can stay up and running while one area is taken offline for repairs and upgrades.
ACCO installed new process equipment to generate RODI, HWFI and AWFI in the utility yard and then installed distribution piping to the points of use throughout the manufacturing building. This included ties-ins to existing CDA, N2 and O2, along with plant steam and chilled water lines throughout the building. ACCO’s BIM team 3D modeled the entire yard and distribution lines to allow for pre-fabrication of GMP piping. ACCO’s process/piping groups performed all the install.
