    BlueNalu is a leading food technology company developing cell-based seafood products, expanding to its administrative, R&D and manufacturing space with a new facility in San Diego. The facility includes a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) pilot-scale food production plant for commercial production of cell-based seafood products in its initial test markets and has the first BlueNalu kitchen and demonstration space.

    PROJECT SUMMARY

    ACCO served as a design-assist partner for BlueNalu’s 38,000 square foot pilot plant that includes offices, laboratories and ISO 7 & 8 cleanrooms. This cutting-edge facility aims to transform the future of sustainable seafood production.

    ACCO played a pivotal role in installing and integrating HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and site utilities systems, showcasing expertise in engineering, budgeting, constructability, and prefabrication to ensure a seamless and efficient project execution. Ongoing engineering engagement allowed the project to pivot and update space needs during construction without losing the project schedule. Systems included, custom AHUs with humidity control, lab exhaust, process cooling water, lab gases and vacuum, LN2, process/ lab/sanitary/grease waste, domestic/industrial/pure water, clean/process steam and natural gas.

    ACCO utilized our own off-site prefabrication facilities and phased construction packages to accelerate construction schedules. This strategic approach optimized project success by minimizing disruptions, improving overall efficiency, and ensuring seamless coordination among all stakeholders.
