PROJECT SUMMARY

ACCO was contracted in 2019 on a design build basis for the design and construction of a four-story facility to anchor programs for STEAM. ACCO led the design and execution of the HVAC and plumbing systems, including process piping. The project featured a new roof top central plant with water and air source heat pumps serving an energy recovery system that harnesses lab exhaust to reheat the building. New rooftop air handling units (AHUs) were installed to manage majority air value and cascading pressure zones. The plumbing scope included an extensive lab waste and process gas systems, a state-of-the-art distilled water system, a shop air and vacuum system, and an extensive natural gas system.

A key differentiator for this project was ACCO’s ability to combine all three trades: Plumbing, HVAC, and Process Piping. This allowed for a single point of contact throughout the project which made coordination with the customer seamless.

This cutting-edge facility, dedicated to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math programs, opened its doors to students in January 2025 and became fully operational during the Spring 2025 semester.
